You shall not make unto you any
graven image,
or any likeness of any
thing that is in heaven above, or that is in
the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth: You shall not bow down
thyself to them, nor God am a jealous
God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children unto the third and
fourth generation of them that hate me;
And showing mercy unto thousands of them
that love me, and keep my Commandments.

for the Lord will not hold him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to
keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour,
and do all thy work: But the seventh day is
the sabbath  of the LORD thy God: in it
thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy
son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor
thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within thy gates: For in six
days the LORD made heaven and earth, the
sea, and all that in them is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed
the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

"The Ten Commandments"

For this is the love of God,
that we keep His commandments.
1 John 5:3

In Christ, we are not forced to obey the Ten Commandments, but as we strive
to live lives that glorify His Name, we obey them out of love for Him.  It is
Christ who writes the Law in our hearts when we receive Him as our Saviour.

In
Matthew 5:17  and  Matthew 5:18  Jesus tells us that He did not come to abolish
or do away with the Law or the Ten Commandments, He came to fulfill them.
So yes, they are still very much relevant for those who are in Christ today.

The Ten Commandments never did and never will possess any saving
power.  They were never given to make us righteous.  They are moral
and ethical guidelines for every day living.  They are timeless principles.

They are moral absolutes that represent acceptable behavior,
not just for then, or even today ... but I believe, forever.

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one
who loves me.  He who loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I too will love him and show myself to him.
John 14:21

Notice that Jesus did not say,  If you love Me, you will HAVE to keep
my commandments.  But what He did say was, if you love me, the result is
you WILL keep my commandments.  Now that is the secret of all proper
behavior in the Christian experience.  The proof of our love is obedience.

The Name and Character of God should be displayed in
the lives of Christians who still take His Word seriously.
