Repentance and Forgiveness

Repentance means to leave the sin
we loved before, and show we are
grieved by DOING  IT  NO  MORE!

Repenting will change the way we
think and make us change our ways.
It cannot be just a changing of the
mind alone.  To repent means to feel
sorrow, turn around, and follow Jesus!

Every time we repent of our sin,
there’s a celebration in Heaven.
Jesus said,
“There is rejoicing
in the presence of the angels of
God over one sinner who repents.”

The angels are thrilled because God
is being exalted.  His Will is being
done on earth as it is in Heaven.

God's forgiveness is so complete.
We can't work for it or earn it, and
we can't perform better to get it.

It's unconditional and it's undeserved.
So how do we get it?  We must
go to God and ask Him for it!

But what about the people who
say they believe in Jesus Christ,
but still live like the devil?

It's true that many people go to
Churches that operate more like social
clubs with all their feel-good sermons,
but they never preach the TRUE Gospel.

Oh, they're all caught up in special activities
and social events in the Church, but do they
ever share the REAL Gospel with the lost?

As Christians, we try to lead people to
Christ with prayer, then we share verses
on assurance, but we also need to make
sure they know about repentance.

Our Lord had plenty to say about repentance!
Luke 5:32,  Luke 24:47,  Mark 1:15

We say, "Just believe!"  But  James 2:19
says that even the devils believe and tremble.

We tell them to admit they are a sinner,
believe in Jesus, and then just sit back
and bask in the many assurance verses,
but is that all there really is to it?

We need to stop doing evil and be Holy
like the Lord.  We must live a continuing
lifestyle of repentance.
 Romans 11:22,
1 Corinthians 6:9-10,  2 Peter 1:10-11

When we confess our sins, He is faithful and
just and will forgive us our sins and purify
us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

What God wants us to do is to look at the
sin before us and call it what He calls it.
That means to agree with God about it.

To say with God what He says about
something is confessing sin.  We can be
certain of the cleansing that comes when
we agree with God about these things.

Whenever we know we have fallen into
a fleshly reaction, into sin, we need to
stop right there, and in our hearts agree
with God about it and experience anew
this wonderful cleansing, this faithful
and righteous cleansing of our lives that
purifies us from all unrighteousness.

We need to think Christianly about life.
We need to look at what we are going
through, not from the standpoint of what
this world says is right, but upon what
is right according to the Word of God.

Paul tells us in
Galatians 5:16  that
our old natures have to be kept
under control by walking in the Spirit.

When we live by the Spirit we will not
gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Will you forgive me? YES!

The word that brings joy is forgiveness.
God can forgive!  He forgives and then
He restores.  When we see the hurt, the
pain and the despair that sin produces,
and we grieve over it - it is then that we
are ready for the comfort of forgiveness.

We need to be cleansed from our sins by
God's Grace!  We need to be Repentant!
